PROJECT RENAISSANCE: KL
When smart people come together, they multiply each other’s talents
What is Project Renaissance?
Project Renaissance is a 10 year project by education company Mindvalley to ‘hack’ cities to unleash the full potential of their inhabitants. In Kuala Lumpur, our focus is entrepreneurship and we’re looking to put KL on the map as one of the top 10 places in the world to launch a startup — within 10 years. This implies creating an entire Silicon Valley inspired ecosystem of incubators, accelerators, education programs and initiatives to transform the entrepreneurial DNA of the city.
How do you hack a city? It’s a bold project – but we believe it can be done. Our first model is to provide a unifying meeting place for the cities best minds. We call it the Hall of Awesomeness. Next we’ve been working with talented leaders in Kuala Lumpur to create communities and movements catering to different aspects of entrepreneurship — all of which are provided access to this epic meeting space.
The Hall of Awesomeness
Launched in early 2013, the Hall of Awesomeness is a gorgeously-designed auditorium with a capacity for 150 guests. It features a speaker stage, customizable sitting arrangement using beanbags, a built-in sound system, projector screens, a backstage room and a kitchen space for catering. Great talent needs a great meeting place. The Hall of Awesomeness was privately funded by Vishen Lakhiani and offered as a free meeting space for groups in the city of Kuala Lumpur that spread entrepreneurial education. Some 1000 bright minds gather in the Hall for a variety of events and meetups every week.
